Another opinion…after reading more of Commissioner Van Shaver’s ridiculous explanation to convince the citizens of Loudon County that we need a new 7-12 grade school, did Van Shaver purposely manipulate the data to trick the Board of Education and County Commission into forcing a huge tax hike on the County? It appears so. Facts prove that WE DONT NEED ANOTHER SCHOOL, and our classrooms are not over crowded! It’s the unacceptable performance level of the students that need our attention!!!
FACTS:
1. Per Dec 2024 Open Records Request, we have 405 less students in our schools than in 2010.
2. There were 400 Open Enrollment High School seats available just 2-days after the corrupt vote on June 24, 2024.
3. There are 818 Open Seats in our county schools.
4. There are 173 enrolled Pre-K (3 & 4 year olds) that we have no obligation to provide classrooms for.
5. There are 385 Out of District students, and 161 Out of County students that we’re not obligated to educate.
6. The BOE over counted the student population by 341 per Aug 2024 data.
7. Van Shaver posted a photo of desks and chairs in an Electrical Room at Eaton Elementary School, where the pupil-teacher ratios is 14.8 (well under the TN State limit), and states there are “no open classrooms” there.
8. Of the nine schools in Loudon County, only one school showed growth since 2010 (Loudon Elementary).
9. The growth that Van shows is in Lenoir City that has their own school district.
10. Per Van’s own statement, over 90% of Loudon County families do not have school aged children. Stop looking at Lenoir City growth and projecting that onto Loudon County!
So WHAT’S UP LOUDON COUNTY? OUR TAXES!
The time to do something is now.
